Move to quit AAP 'personal decision', says Ashish Khetan

Days after announcing his resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), journalist-turned-politician Ashish Khetan on Friday said his move to quit the party was a ‘personal decision’ and clarified that he had no intention of joining any other political party as he was not interested in electoral politics anymore. Khetan said he wanted to focus on his legal practice.

“My reason is personal. I was contemplating for past one and half years. I spoke to my family and friends about it and came to the conclusion that I won’t be able to do party politics. I wanted to focus on my legal practice,” ANI quoted Khetan as saying.

On Wednesday, Khetan had announced his resignation from AAP, days after another leader Ashutosh announced his exit from the party.

“I had resigned from DDC in April, to join the legal profession. That is all. Not interested in rumours,” Khetan tweeted, referring to the Delhi DDC, an advisory body of the Delhi government.

Khetan, while wishing 'good luck' to his 'ex-party colleagues' in their future endeavours, said his ‘personal decision’ to move away from party and electoral politics should not be viewed as a reflection on AAP.

“My personal decision to move away from party and electoral politics should not be viewed as a reflection on AAP, in any way whatsoever,” Khetan said in a Facebook post.

“I continue to hold all my ex-party colleagues in high regard and wish them good luck in their future endeavours,” Khetan said.
