SSC paper leak: Angry protesters clash with police officials, detained

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) aspirants on Saturday staged a protest in Delhi and demanded a CBI probe into the alleged SSC paper leak. The SSC aspirants from Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh clashed with the police officials in Lutyens’ Delhi.

Hundreds of students demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe by CBI into the issue and also accused the central government of failing to prevent the alleged leak.

The protestors at Jantar Mantar demanded sufficient jobs for the educated youth of the country. The students had earlier said that the concerned authorities would have to give a written assurance on their demands or they would march towards the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) office.

A large number of security personal and police were deployed to control the protestors. Police detained the angry protesters when they attempted to march towards the DoPT office.

About 3,000 SSC aspirants were protesting close to the Parliament Street police station, a senior police officer told PTI. When stopped by the police, the students marched towards Connaught Place, added the officer.

The officer said that the protesters halted the traffic in Lutyens’ Delhi for more than an hour. The police detained 200 protesters who are currently under detention at different police stations in Delhi.
