Independence Day 2018 Delhi Traffic advisory | know route, time and metro services

Ahead of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Delhi Traffic Police has issued traffic advisory to avoid traffic congestion. At least half a dozen roads in Delhi will remain closed and traffic will be on some roads will be diverted on Tuesday (14 August) and Wednesday (15 August), the Traffic Police said.

Security have been beefed up ahead of the Independence Day 2018 celebrations in the national capital.

Six roads around Red Fort will remain closed for public on Wednesday, police said.

Following road links will remain closed for public on Wednesday (15 August) from 5 am to 9am:

Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail Lothian Road to GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail S.P. Mukheerjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg

Also, traffic from Sri Aurobindo Marg, Central Delhi Connaught Place to Minto Road, Ring Road to ISBT and Nizamuddin Bridge will be diverted on Wednesday, police said.

To avoid traffic congestion and to ease the vehicular movements on Wednesday, vehicles will also have to take alternative routes from Delhi-Noida-Direct way, National Highway 24, Vikas Marg, Vikas Marg- Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, and Boulevard Road-Barfkhana, police said.

Movements of goods vehicles on Nizamuddin Bridge and Wazirabad Bridge will be prohibited from 12 midnight of 14 August to 11 am on 15 August, police said.

On Wednesday (15 August), Delhi Metro services will start 15 minutes earlier than the normal time table due to the Independence Day celebrations. Metro services will start from 4:30 am from Escorts Mujesar to Kashmere Date on the violet to facilitate the movement of people interested to attend the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, said Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in a statement released.

According to Delhi Metro officials, the first passenger service will begin from Escorts Mujesar at 4.30 am in the morning and trains will be available at a frequency of 15 minutes till 6 am. The metro service will resume the normal time table after 6 am.

The nearest Metro station near Red Fort is Lal Quila.
