Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday is scheduled to address a gathering at an event at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on World Biofuel Day. PM Modi will deliver his speech to the scientists, students, farmers, government officials, entrepreneurs and legislators on the occasion of World Biofuel Day, according to a government statement.
"At 10 AM today, PM Narendra Modi will attend an event to mark World Biofuel Day in New Delhi. He will address a diverse gathering, consisting of farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, students, government officials, and legislators," tweeted PMO India ahead of the occasion.
To mark the importance of biofuels, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has scheduled the programme. The event will also draw the attention to various efforts by the Modi government in the biofuel industry.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been observing the World Biofuel Day since the last three years.
Biofuels have the collaboration of different initiatives taken by the government like Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, enhancing farmers’ incomes, the official statement read. The ethanol blending in petrol has spiked up to 141 crore litre in 2017-18 financial year due to the efforts made by the NDA government, the statement further read.
The Centre in June, also approved the National Policy on Biofuels.
Biofuels contribute to a cleaner environment and help in lessening the human dependency on crude oil while generating additional income for farmers.
