New Delhi :
Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday braced for heavy, non-stop torrential rains for the upcoming days as predicted by IMD. Normal life was disrupted creating chaos and triggering a deluge and thus calling army and navy deployment in the two suburbs.
The forces are undertaking rescue on a war footing strategy to bring out those who are stuck in the deluge.
Some navy personnel were involved in Sadiapet area of Chennai to rescue people marooned in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, all flight operations at Chennai airport were suspended thus halting 11 foreign and 9 domestic flights. The decision will be taken soon to take a call on resuming operations. It has been suspended till 6 AM tomorrow.
This year, the rains have virtually broken a 100-year-old record with one day's rainfall covering a month's average.
The rains have also severely disrupted train and bus services and forcing postponment of half-yearly school exams and closure of schools in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.
