The scathing remarks on Azam Khan were made by Shiv Sena in its mouthpiece Saamana.
Reason
The attack on Azam Khan came after he sought intervention of United Nations to look into the "miseries" of minorities in India.
Khan in October had written to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and asked the organisation to take a look into the miseries of minorities in India.

He even accused Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of working to turn secular and pluralistic India into a majoritarian theocratic nation as 'Hindu Rashtra'.
His most controversial statement was, "Taj Mahal should be demolished and Shiva Temple be constructed on it."
On the 23rd anniversary of Ayodhya's disputed structure, Khan took a dig at Shiv Sena and said, "If Sena demolishes Taj Mahal to build Shiva Temple on it, then I will also offer help by shoveling."

On December 6, he also demanded imposition of a complete ban on the RSS, urging the NDA-led Centre to label it as a "terrorist" organisation.
The Uttar Pradesh minister noted that a similar thing was done by the Nehru government after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.
