New Delhi :

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokesperson Devpreet Singh on Tuesday cleared the air about raids on Delhi Secretary Rajender Kumar's office.

Talking to reporters, Devpreet said, "CBI has done raids with proper warrant from competent court. Do not spread baseless rumours to impede CBI investigation. From 2007-2014, he (Rajendra Kumar) along with 6 others abused his position to award contracts."

"There was no raid in Delhi CM office."

In a shocker to the AAP government, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Secretary office was raided and sealed on Tuesday after CBI raids.

According to reports, CBI teams raided Delhi Secretariat office and sealed the third floor of the building.

Minutes after the raids, Kejriwal took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tweeted, "When Modi couldn't handle me politically, he resorted to this cowardice."

Rajendra Kumar issue dates back to June when Senior bureaucrat Ashish Joshi wrote to the Anti-Corruption Branch chief MK Meena against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's secretary accusing him of allegedly indulging in corruption.

Ashish Joshi, former member-secretary of the Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC), also asked the Lt Governor-appointed ACB Chief MK Meena and sought to probe the role of Kumar when he was with departments of education, IT and Health of Delhi government.

The issue has once again opened the farce and ongoing tussle between Delhi government and Centre.

AAP will be holding a news briefing at 1:30 pm today following CBI raids.

When asked, Home Minister Rajnath Singh refused to comment on the issue, however, Venkaiah Naidu slammed AAP for always laying the onus of any issue on Prime Minister's shoulders.

"It has become a fashion," Naidu added.
