April 2015 was the month to witness one of the most dreadful disasters ever. India’s neighbouring country Nepal suffered a deadly earthquake 7.9 magnitude. The quake killed over 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000.
Repair and estimates
Repair estimates are $160 million to restore 1,000 damaged and destroyed monasteries, temples, historic houses, and shrines across the country.
India’s aid to the neighbour:
Indian army launched its biggest ever overseas rescue operation “Operation Maitri”. India's response was started within 15 minutes of the quake.
Thousands of lives were saved by Indian soldiers which saw a huge involvement of its prestigious Gorkha Nepali regiment.
