For the first time in Indian history, it was more breaking news on social media than on conventional platforms. It was actually Digital India which rules the Indian news arena.  From PM Narendra Modi to Sushma Swaraj to Rajnath Singh to Arun Jaitley everyone showed their presence on Twitter.

Even moving one step ahead, PM Modi announced the availability of US President Barack Obama as chief guest on Republic Day to sudden visit to Lahore, all on his Twitter handle. The NDA’s every move was thoroughly monitored on its Twitter handle.

Not only PM Modi, many of his Cabinet colleagues have pitched including Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj’s tweets have helped to rescue Indians stranded in war-torn Yemen and Iraq or bring back stuck people in Dubai or evacuating a woman of Indian origin under house arrest in the UAE. She was everywhere and ready to help any Indian facing problem in abroad.

Railways minister Suresh Prabhu created cheer among the passengers as he was first and best among all. Most ministers are active on social networking sites while more than half of them have accounts verified by Twitter.

Even PM Modi singled out the railways minister’s initiative and praised him in a recent meeting.  “Chha gaye, chha gaye (you have made a splash),” the Prime Minister reportedly said.

From cases of eve teasing to harassment of women at a wayside railway station to a distraught mother’s demand for milk for her six-month-old to providing meals to school children, the minister was there every time to help them out.
