In 2015, the sporting world was rocked by ban and fixing in cricket, scandal in football, doping in athletics and many other things. Now, the fixing menace has touched Lawn Tennis also.
In the starting of this year, the first major Australian Open was rocked by fixing allegations, that too World number one Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian claimed on Monday he was approached to through away a match earlier in his career. According to a report, around 16 players who had reached the top 50 in the past decade, including Grand Slam champions, claimed to be involved in fixing matches for betting syndicates.
After the revelation, the officials denied any evidence of match-fixing.
Djokovic claimed in 2007 after winning against South Korea's Chung Hyeon, he was asked to throw away the next match at St Petersburg.
The World number one said he was never directly approached and offered him $200,000 to throw the match.
