New Delhi:

Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja, based on real story of a Pan Am Flight 73’s hijacking at the Karachi airport in 1986, has joined the list of Bollywood movie that are banned in Pakistan.

They claim that the film puts Pakistan in a bad light and this is why they didn’t even consult censor board before banning the movie.

Here is a look at other Bollywood movies which have been banned in Pakistan.

1: Phantom: The film was banned over a plea by Jamat-ud-Dawah chief and alleged 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed filed a petition in Lahore high court, seeking a ban on the film, alleging that it contains “filthy propaganda” against Pakistan.

2: Calendar Girls (2015): Madhur Bhandarker’s dream project failed to greet audiences in Pakistan as it was banned for its objectionable content and dialogues. According to several reports, ‘Pakistani ladkiyaan bhi utne hi bold kaam karti hain jitni baaki ladkiyaan karti hain, balki kabhi kabhi uss se zyada bhi’.

3: Baby (2015): Pakistan’s censor board objected to the film over the fact that this film portrays muslims in a bad light.

4: Bangistan (2015): Pakistan authorities reportedly banned this Riteish Deshmukh-Pulkit Samrat-starrer after watching just the trailer. Their contention: The film was “anti-Pakistan, anti-Muslim”.

5: Haider (2014): Vishal Bharadwaj’s movie failed to clear Pakistan censor board nod due to controversial elements related to Kashmir.
