New Delhi:
The high volatage match between India and Australia reportedly attracted high amount of betting in India. Now, police have made four arrests regarding the alleged betting during India versus Australia ICC World T20 cricket match in Naya Bazar locality in Shamli district.
The UP Police, acting on a tip off, raided a house last night and arrested the accused, Circle officer Nishank Sharma said.
Police also seized six mobile phones, documents and some cash from their possession, the CO said. They have been booked under Gambling Act, he said.
Betting and match fixing have brought bad name to Indian cricket with recent IPL Fixing scam being the archetypal of it.
