New Delhi:

It was disappointing night for Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy stadium, when they lost the Indian Premier League trophy to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 runs. It was their third final in nine seasons. It was a season of records for the Royals as their batting looked best and had the arsenal to destroy any bowling attack.

A team consisting of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers in first three positions can take the game away at point of the time. Skipper Virat had an excellent season as he tumbled many records this season including four centuries, over 900 runs in one season, surpassed Suresh Raina in highest runs, record breaking 219 runs stand with AB de Villiers and both scored 1660 runs together.

At one point Kohli and RCB were looking unstoppable, they reached the finals by winning their last four league matches and then thrash Gujarat Lions in the Qualifier 1 to book their berth in finals.

As their batting looks impenetrate, their bowling was their weak point. They had a weak middle order and was never under any pressure as most of the runs were scored by Kolhi, ABD and Gayle till the finals. When the time came to deliver their goods in finals they buck down under pressure against the best bowling side in the league. They felt the absence of Mitchell Starc in the entire league; Yuzvendra Chahal, Chris Jordan, Shane Watson provide some good spells but never looked like blocking runs.

In the finals, Watson gave away 24 runs which cost the match. They gave 50 runs in last three overs which helped Sunrisers to post massive 208 runs on the board.

RCB bowling was weak, they were unable to defend 191 runs against Delhi, when de Kock launched an all-out attack against them. Part-time wicket keeper KL Rahul displayed some stability in middle order and score over 300 runs but leaked runs behind the wicket.

For the next season they need a good bowling attack and a regular wicket-keeper who can replace KL Rahul. They can even trade some bowlers from winner Sunrisers with some of their batsmen.
