New Delhi:

The nine-member team formed by the BJP to probe the mass exodus in Kairana faced protests by the locals hours after it arrived in the city. Deciding to take up the matter of mass exodus of Hindu families from Kairana city in a big way, the BJP has formed a nine-member committee to assess the situation on the spot.

The nine-member team which arrived in the city of Kairana is expected to come out with the factual situation prevailing in the city. A report will be submitted on the same to the state BJP unit at the earliest.

The issue of 'Kairana exodus', the alleged migration of Hindus from the town in Shamli district of Western Uttar Pradesh, has rocked not just the state but the entire country. The issue of alleged migration has led to a continued war of words between the political parties.

The issue gained momentum when  BJP MP and former Union minister Hukum Singh made claims of a mass exodus of Hindu families from Kairana town. The leader released a list of 346 families that had deserted the city since 2014 leaving their properties behind after they were allegedly targeted and persecuted by another community.

Since then the war of words between the UP government and BJP has been going on. Akhilesh Yadav strikes back with the response that BJP is trying to harm the communal harmony in the state.
