New Delhi :
The HRD ministry on Friday will try to build consensus on the draft education policy and open it for a debate in Rajya Sabha.
The new education policy comes after a gap of nearly three decades. It aims at laying a roadmap for the education sector, which has grown in proportion over years but suffers from varied quality parameters.
The draft policy raises a range of issues like revision of no-detention policy, promotion of Sanskrit and bringing back Class X board examinations.
It also focuses on addressing gender gap, gender discrimination, creating educational tribunals and a common curriculum for science, mathematics and English. It also aims to ensure quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
