New Delhi:

BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday launched a scathing attack on BJP and SP in a rally at Azamgarh. Accusing both the parties of disappointing the electorate, Mayawati said that “the party (BJP) has no options but to depend on rejected maal.”

During the rally she said, “Like in Bihar, the BJP does not have any candidates (to file) for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections of the state. They (BJP) are depending on the `rejected maal' of the BSP and other parties.” “They are trying to cash on leaders who were either rejected by us (BSP) or were shown the exit door”, she added.

Amid all this BSP supremo didn’t spare the ruling Samajwadi party, attacking the UP government in Mulayam Singh’s constituency, she said “there is an atmosphere of crime and riot, even Muslims and minorities are not safe in UP.”

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, she said, “Crime was at its lowest, when we (BSP) were in power.”

“To divert people's attention from the failures of BJP and the Centre, the government can go to war (with Pakistan) on the issue of Kashmir and terrorism,” she said at the rally.

Of the 10 assembly seats in the area, the Samajwadi Party holds a majority. Mayawati is now hoping to make a dent in eastern UP in the coming state polls, and chose Azamgarh for her first rally in the region which has a significant Muslim population apart from her Dalit vote base.

Attacking center, Mayawati said that “Central government has adopted a step-motherly attitude towards the Muslims and other minorities.” She also stressed that the promises made by PM Modi in 2014 are yet to be fulfilled.
