Happy Birthday Michael Jackson

New Delhi:

'King of pop' Michael Jackson, who was born on August 29 in 1958, will always be remembred by the music lovers across the world. Michael Joseph Jackson was not only a pop singer but also a legend, who revolutionised the face of world pop culture by his extreme and unique talent, amazing dance moves, innovative style.

He started his career in music from his early childhood days. His father Joseph Jackson was a guitarist dreamt to form a music group in his family. In the early 60s, his father started a band Jackson 5 consisting of his four sons Michael, Tito, Jermaine, and Jackie.

In August 1969, the Jackson 5 was introduced to the music industry at a special event. It’s first single, ‘I Want You Back’, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1970.

In 1984, MJ made history when he became the first artist to win eight Grammys in a single night, including the awards for Album of the Year and Record of the Year, during the 26th Annual Grammy Awards. The same year, he became the first celebrity to have two stars in the same category on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Michael Jackson's 58th birth anniversary, let's remember him with his top five playlist-

Thriller:

The video that many believe made music videos much more than mere promotions for the album, Thriller was in fact a package in itself with amazing visual affect and  Michael Jackson in twinkle toes mode.

Say Say Say (1983):

This music video featured arguably two of the most popular pop stars of all time, McCartney and Jackson.

Bad (1987):

Bad was not that Bad as MJ seemed to be much fairer skin and with celebrity presence as Wesley Snipes was in the video.

Smooth Criminal (1988):

Perhaps this wasone of the most stylish music videos that was ever made, Smooth Criminal continued Michael Jackson’s new approach to music, with more vocal and even sometimes visual aggression.

You Rock My World (2001):

MJ era was well and truly over, but he managed to give us one of the best and last memorable video. In this music video Jackson’s face appeared more plastic than flesh and blood, and many felt that video had no end.
