New Delhi:

The 'Zero Distance' programme is Infosys’s latest attempt to drive more business from clients and increase productivity of its bench. The Bangalore based of Software solution giant is placing incentives for project managers to start monetising the flagship program.

CEO Vishal Sikka pioneered the ‘Zero Distance’ initiatives when he joined the IT company in August 2014.

As per reports in the financial dailies, the idea behind the program was to develop new ideas and improvements on every project Infosys works on to create a culture of innovation and to prove to clients the company was truly their partner, not just a vendor.

Now that the framework has been effected on practically all of the company's 9,500 projects, Infosys is looking at monetising the programme.

"They are creating an incentive mechanism so that every project manager can mine accounts, create a Zero Distance template and turn that into a project. It's a way to boost mining accounts because now, it is not just a sales team selling but every project manager can up-sell and cross-sell," an executive told Economic Times.

Chief delivery officer Ravi Kumar S said of 11,000 Zero Distance templates, 30-35% were being discussed with clients. "When they were building the proof of concept, it was not being billed. But if the ideas turn into projects, then you have turned your bench into a productive resource that will actually boost margins," the person said.
