It was India’s Day; first Pujara and Rohit then it was Ashwin’s show. The all-rounder began his spell with two wickets in an over and then another to become the second fastest to 200 Test wickets in terms of matches (37), beating Dennis Lillee (38), Waqar Younis (38) and Dale Steyn (39), and only one match shy of Australia's Clarrie Grimmett (36).  

India declared their second innings at 377 for five, forcing the umpires to call for early tea in the first cricket Test against New Zealand, today. India, thus, set a target of 434 runs for New Zealand to win the match and take early lead in the three-Test series.

Rohit Sharma was batting on 68 while Ravindra Jadeja was 50 not out as India played 107.3 overs in their second essay. For Zealand Mitchell Santner (2/79) and Ish Sodhi (2/99) picked up two wickets apiece.

India were 159/1 in their second innings on day three of the first cricket Test against New Zealand. The hosts, who had taken a first-innings lead of 56 runs after bowling out New Zealand for 262, were ahead by 215 runs when the stumps were drawn at Green Park.

India are 52 for 1 in their second innings, an overall lead of 108, at tea on the third day ofthe opening cricket Test against New Zealand on Saturday.
