In its historic 500th Test match, Team India beat New Zealand by 197 runs to win the first Test to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series at Green Park in Kanpur on Monday.

In its historic 500th Test match, Team India beat New Zealand by 197 runs to win the first Test to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series at Green Park in Kanpur on Monday. After reducing the Kiwis to 205-7 at lunch, India claimed the three remaining wickets to clinch the opening Test on the fifth day in Kanpur.

4. 1,000 villagers evacuated as floods wreack havoc in Telangana

With heavy downpour pummelling Telangana over the past few days, authorities are keeping a watch on the flood situation even as over 1,000 villagers were evacuated in Karimnagar district.

The water from the under-construction Mid Manair Dam in Boinapally mandal of Karimnagar had started overflowing from the bund and the earthen embankment had got breached, resulting in floods in the area.

Karnataka moved Supreme Court on Monday seeking modification of its order asking it to release 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. Karnataka has expressed its inability to release water as directed by SC, says its reservoirs do not have adequate water.

Earlier Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he stated that the state will move an application before the Supreme Court on Monday seeking changes in the apex court’s order of September 20 on the Cauvery issue.
