5th Asian Beach Games: India wins a silver

In The Second Day Of 5th Asian Beach Games Competition Being Held At Vietnam, India Added Another Medal With Harish Banghel Winning A Silver In The Men's Middleweight Muay Thai Event.

In the second day of 5th Asian Beach Games competition being held at Vietnam, India added another medal with Harish Banghel winning a silver in the men's middleweight Muay Thai event. Banghel lost to Zhang Yongkang of China in the final of 71-75kg category to settle for a silver.

Muay Thai is a popular combat sport in South East Asia which involves a combination of boxing and martial arts originated in Thailand.On Sunday, India had opened their medal account with Pinky Balhara bagging a bronze in kurash. India has a contingent of 208 members in the 5th Asian Beach Games. 

The athletes will participate in 13 disciplines which include Swimming, Kabaddi, Handball, Kurash, Pencak Silat, Sambo, Ju-Jitsu, Woodball, Sepaktakraw, Pentaque, Shuttlecock, Voninam and Muay Thai. 

In the previous edition held in 2014 in Phuket, India had won two gold, a silver and seven bronze medals.
