New Delhi:
The maiden BRICS U-17 Football Cup taking place in Goa will conclude with the final being played between Brazil and South Africa at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda.
Coinciding with the annual BRICS summit in Goa, the final will see the diverse interaction of sports and thoughts which can also opens new arena of development of football in India.
Powerhouse of the world's most popular game, Brazil maintained its stronghold throughout the tournament by some powerful perfomances while South African team too ousted the likes of Russia and China to make its way to the final. The match will take place at 3.30 PM IST.
Meanwhile, The third place match will be played between Russia and China which will start at 10.00 AM IST.
The Finals will be followed by a grand closing ceremony which will be an amalgamation of culture, dance, and music.The tournament which began on October 5, saw participation of teams from all five BRICS countries including India.
Significantly, India is also going to host its first international football competition next year in the form of U-17 FIFA World Cup.
Such an emergence of game in the country will help the sport to develop at the grassroot level and provide a supporting hand to 'Khelo India'- the National Programme for Development of Sports and ‘Mission 11 Million’ - a football promotion programme helmed by The All India Football Federation.
