New Delhi:
A day ahead of Supreme Court’s direction on implementation of Justice Lodha Panel by BCCI, the cricketing board chief Anurag Thakur hinted at toeing the soft line in the court.
Talking to media on the sidelines of India and New Zealand ODI match in Dharamsala on Sunday, BCCI president Thakur said, "BCCI needs to get all the state cricket associations on board to implement the reforms. And to do so, we need more time. May be one or one-and-a-half-month more."
Thakur’s statement indicates that the board is ready to concede and submit to implementing "unconditionally" implement all the court-approved recommendations of the Lodha Committee, as directed by court.
BCCI has been defiant over the last four months ever since the apex court accepted the majority of the Lodha recommendations on July 18. The court had given BCCI between four and six months to implement the proposals. The deadline to implement the recommendations is on December 15.
If BCCI fails to stick to the deadline, it could amount to contempt of court. The apex court is slated to pass directions on the matter on Monday.
