New Delhi:

Virat Kohli's amazing records in all three formats of cricket clearly indicates that he has become the backbone of Indian cricket. In 172 One-day Internationals, Kohli has scored more than 7200 runs with an average of 52.

Kohli became Man of the Match in 25 ODIs, and Man of the Series in 4 ODI series in his 164 innings in the last 8 years.

In Sunday's match against New Zealand in Dharamsala, Kohli guided India to beat the visiting team.

While the Kiwis batsman found it tough to negotiate the Indian pace and spin in Dharamsala, Kohli yet again produced a master class knock of 81 to steer India home in the first ODI at Dharamsala. The Indian skipper leads by example on the field and has made it a habit of taking India across the line more often than not.

Virat Kohli in recent times has arguably been one of the best batsman in the world in both the ODI and Test format. Kohli has been a run scoring machine for India over the last five years. Consistency has been his forte and he rarely fails with the willow.

The Delhi lad is an attacking stroke maker with exquisite stroke-play and sublime timing. What makes Kohli a class act is his tenacity and willingness to compete.

Kohli has the penchant for scoring big hundreds, which is considered  the hallmark of a great player. Kohli is adept at both attack and defence and looks at relative ease while playing spin or pace. He has worked hard on his game and hardly has any chinks in his armor.

Virat is hailed as a master of chasing down big totals. He displays great mental fortitude and sense of composure while batting under pressure.

Kohli has been spectacular with the willow ever since taking over the captaincy in the limited overs arena. His numbers have been simply phenomenal. Kohli scored an astonishing four centuries against the Australians in 2014 in their own backyard, followed it up with a double ton against the West Indies in the Caribbean tour and scored yet another double century against the Kiwis at the recently concluded Test series at home.

In the limited overs arena he is simply in a league of his own. Kohli has amazed over 7000 ODI runs at a staggering average of 52. He has 25 centuries to his name out of which 15 have come while chasing. In T-20 cricket, Kohli has proved to be a force with the bat. He churned out some match winning knocks for India in the 2016 ICC World T-20 tournament, besides being a prolific run-hitter for Royal Challenger Bangalore in the IPL.

If he continues to score runs the way he does, he shall go down as one of the greatest batsman in modern day history of the game.
