New Delhi:

Patiala house court gave a huge relief to Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani as it refused to summon her regarding the fake degree case filed against her.

A complaint had been filed against her by freelance writer Ahmer Khan where he had alleged that Irani had given false information regarding her academic qualifications in affidavits presented to Election Commission.

Irani’s educational qualifications came under scanner after she contested the 2004 and 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The Court dismissed the case due to a delay of around eleven years in filing of the complaint and lack of original documents available with the Delhi University..

The court also came down heavily on the complainant as it observed that the complaint was filed to harass Irani only because she is a central minister. ( Also Read in Hindi )
