New Delhi:

Kolkata became the sixth Indian city to be ratified as a venue for next year’s Under-17 football World Cup after a FIFA inspection team gave its thumbs up to the venue’s preparedness and facilities.

“Massive amount of work has gone into the stadium, impressive improvements since our last inspection in February. A lot of work has been done hence the ratification. The stadium has the potential to be one of the best in the country and can also compete internationally,” Competitions Department Lead, FIFA Delegation Marion Mayer-Vorfelder said.

Earlier Guwahati, Kochi, Navi Mumbai, Goa and New Delhi had got the FIFA’s nod to host the football tournament.
