New Delhi:

The world of social media and internet sometimes fails to bring out the very gist of a story by giving it an altogether different picture.

This whole idea of uploading stories on social media platforms and making them viral to get that 'sense of high' of being the 'first tech savvy geek' to garner those instant hits and recognition can ruin the very essence and context of a story which needs to be brought to light.

Something of a similar fashion unfolded on October 24 when a video of a women cashier was uploaded on Facebook by Balaraju Somisetty with an animated caption 'Fastest cashier in the world'. The trendy headline created a frenzy among the online viewers with views leap-frogging to 13 million and the same being shared over 1,54,000 times.

'Fastest cashier in the world' FB Story:

The online viewers mocked at the so called 'Fastest cashier in the world' lady in feature over her incompetence as a cashier considering her lack of speed and dexterity at typing which was very much at display. But what went completely unnoticed was a humanitarian angle to this falsely dubbed and misleading caption 'World fastest cashier' video.

Kundan Srivastava, a social activist should be given credit for bringing to light an inspirational story which was altogether lost in the first place in the misleading video.

The story of PremLata Shinde, the women featuring in the video is one of sheer grit and determination. Premlata is a employee in Bank of Maharashtra's Pune branch. She has battled and braved severe health issues in her life to be at the position she very much deserves.

A paralysis stroke and two heart attacks dint deter her spirit to work hard and be gainfully employed as a cashier of a bank. Premlata is due to retire in February 2017 and has many leaves up her sleeves, but she leads by example by coming to office regularly and works hard meticulously till attaining retirement.

In a nutshell, if the video had put across the message through a more suitable headline or caption, it would have surely been a great deal of service to humanity in general who could take a leaf out the book of PremLata's never say die spirit to battle odds in life.
