New Delhi:

Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson and a former NASA scientist, 87 year old Kanu Ramdas Gandhi died in a private hospital in Surat after prolonged illness on Monday evening. He is survived by his wife Shivalaxmi.

Kanu had earned fame as the young boy who had walked ahead of his grandfather Mahatma Gandhi holding his stick on Dandi village’s beaches during the legendary Salt Satyagraha of March April 1930.

He was suffering from poor health since a long time and had suffered a heart attack and brain haemorrhage on October 22.

The brutal attack had left his body paralysed and he had lapsed into a coma. Sadly, he could never recover from this situation.
