New Delhi:

Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is known for his never say die attitude and has created various records since his debut. He has single handedly helped India win various matches from perilous situations.

The ongoing Test match at Visakhapatnam has  witnessed Kohli surpassing the records set by batting greats, Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag.

During the second Test against England on Thursday, Kohli played a brilliant innings of 167 and scripted his name amongst Indian batting records.

Virat has scored 14 centuries in 50 Test matches and is second only to Indian batting maestro, Sunil Gavaskar who had scored 14 centuries in 40 Test matches.

Legendary batsmen Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid had taken 54 Tests, 58 Tests and 65 Tests respectively to reach the landmark of 14 centuries.

Virat has been in sublime form and already scored 3 centuries in this current year.

Amongst them, two were double centuries, 200 vs West Indies at North Sound in July and 211 vs the visiting New Zealand team in October.

As far as his record at home is concerned, he has scored 5 centuries in 22 Tests.

Further, he has scored two centuries in the ongoing Test series against England.

His batting has flourished with the added responsibility of captaincy and he has hit 7 hundreds in this role, thus equalling Sachin Tendulkar's tally.

Only Sunil Gavaskar (11) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9) have scored more hundreds than Virat while leading India.
