Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning slammed the Opposition for criticising the implementation of demonetisation, saying, “Those criticising demonetisation move don't have problem with govt's preparedness, they have problem that they didn't get time to prepare.”
Members of the Opposition parties held a meeting in Parliament to chal out a strategy to corner the Narendra Modi government over its demonetisation move as the Winter Session entered its eighth day on Friday.
The Cabinet on Thursday night is believed to have discussed amending laws to levy close to 60 per cent income tax on unaccounted deposits in banks above a threshold post demonetisation of high-denomination currency notes.
Reserve Bank of India on Thursday admitted that there were anomalies in the new Rs 500 notes issued under the Mahatma Gandhi series post November 8. However, both normal and anomaly version are valid for use, the RBI has said.
