Terror attacks originating from Pakistani soil continue to haunt India after 26/11 Mumbai mayhem

India has always been on evil radar of Pakistan. India has constantly witnessed terror attacks originating from Pakistani soil. The terror strikes have been a cause for worry to Indian authorities. Despite many evidences of terror attacks presented in front of Pakistani authorities, no significant action has been witnessed from Pakistan.

Pakistan has often been in denial mode and fails to accept the culpability of several terrorists despite ample evidences against them. Pakistan has so far been unable to take potent action against terrorist groups operating from their soil. Of late, entire world including US is tightening its stand over terrorist groups operating from Pakistan. Reportedly, US has also asked Pakistan to act against terror groups operating in their country.

One of the prominent terrorist attacks was witnessed on November 26, 2008. 2008 Mumbai attacks was very grievous which claimed more than 160 lives and injured as many as 239 people. The terrorists carried out their operations for about 4 days in Mumbai. It included 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks across Mumbai. The attack was condemned from almost all corners of the world.             

One of the attackers was Ajmal Kasab who was detained by Police, disclosed that all the attackers belonged to terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Amidst pressure from the world, Pakistan confirmed that the sole surviving perpetrator of the attacks was a Pakistani citizen in January, 2009. However, in 2015, the foremost ringleader of the attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, was granted bail.

Despite the escalation of matter in front of the whole world, the terror attacks has not stopped. It has continued unabatedly after 2008 Mumbai attacks. Here is the list of terror attacks which has happened post 2008 Mumbai attacks:

Pune attack, 2010

Pune bombings happened on February 13, 2010 at German Bakery in Koregaon Park. The blast took 17 lives and injured at least 60 more. The attack was also carried out by Pakistan-based terror group. David Coleman Headley, a Pakistani-American terror suspect, has been accused of involvement in the project.

Varanasi bombings, 2010

In the same year, terrorists carried out attack at one of the holiest shrine of Varanasi on December 7. The bomb exploded at Sheetla Ghat which is adjacent to the main Dashashwamedh Ghat, where the sunset aarti, the evening prayer ritual to the holy river happens. The attack claimed 2 lives and injured 37 others.

Mumbai attack, 2011     

Terrorists had again unceremoniously chosen the maximum city as their place of attack in 2011. The series of three coordinated bomb attacks claimed 26 lives and injured 130. The blasts happened at Opera House, Zaveri Bazaar and Dadar West localities.

Delhi bombing, 2011

In the same year, terrorists shook national capital by exploding bomb outside Gate No. 5 of Delhi High Court. The blast killed 17 people and injured 76. Responsibility for the bombing was claimed by the Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) group. However, Indian Mujahideen claimed that the attack was carried out by IM and not HuJI.

Pune attack, 2012

The explosions took place in a radius of 1 km in Jangli Maharaj Road: in front of Balgandharva Auditorium, opposite to KFC restaurant near Garware Bridge, Dena Bank branch at Jangli Maharaj Road, and in front of a McDonald's restaurant. However, no deaths were reported in this attack.

Hyderabad blasts, 2013

Twin blasts rocked the city of Hyderabad on February 21, 2013. The blasts claimed 17 lives and 119 others were injured. Major cities in India like Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore, Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal were put on high alert after the blasts. Initial reports suggested the involvement of Indian Mujahideen in the blasts.

Srinagar attack, 2013

The attack was carried out on Central Reserve Police Force camp at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It resulted in the death of five CRPF personnel and 2 attackers. 10 others were also injured include security personnel and civilians. The terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bangalore blast, 2013

The blast happened on April 17, 2013 in Bangalore. No deaths were reported from the blast. However, 16 people had non-fatal injuries. Later, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that the latest Bangalore blast was a terror attack.

Srinagar attack, 2013

Indian Army convoy was attacked on June 24, 2013 which claimed the lives of 8 Jawans and 19 others were injured. The attack happened in Hyderpura when Army trucks were travelling from Leh on Baramullah-Jammu National highway.

Bodh Gaya bombings, 2013

A series of ten bomb blasts took place around the Mahabodhi Temple complex on July 7, 2013. The temple and Bodhi Tree were left undamaged. National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced that the Indian Mujahideen was responsible for the bombings.

Patna bombings, 2013

A series of bomb blasts shook Patna, capital of Bihar, on October 27, 2013. The blasts took place at an election rally by Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The bombings took lives of six people and left 85 others injured. Indian Mujahideen was suspected for the attacks by the investigative agencies.

Gurdaspur attack, 2015

Three gunmen dressed in Army uniforms started firing on a bus and then attacked a police station in Gurdaspur district on July 27, 2015. Total of 7 people lost their lives and 15 other were left injured in the attack. The Ministry of Home Affairs claimed that the attacks were carried out by Pakistan based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Pathankot attack, 2016 

The heavily armed group of terrorists attacked Pathankot Air Force Station on January 2, 2016. Total of 6 security personnel were killed in the attack and 20 others left injured. After the attack, the national capital Delhi was put on high alert.           

Pampore attack, 2016

Militants ambushed Central Reserve Police Force convoy in Pampore town of Jammu and Kashmir on June 25, 2016. The attack was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba. It calimed 8 lives and 22 were injured in the attack.

Uri attack, 2016

The militants attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Uri near Line of Control. The attack carried out on September 18, 2016. The attack is considered to be deadliest attack on security forces deployed in Kashmir in two decades. It claimed the lives of 19 soldiers and around 30 were injured.

Baramulla attack, 2016

The terrorists attacked a camp of the Indian Army's 46 Rashtriya Rifles in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on October 3, 2016. It claimed the lives of 1 soldier. The suspected perpetrator is Jaish-e-Mohammad.
