New Delhi:
India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu’s bid to win a second successive Super Series title was dealt a severe blow as she lost to Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan 15-21, 17-21 in title clash of the Hong Kong Open 2016 on Sunday.
Sindhu had made the grand finale of the tournament on the back of some superlative performances in the tournament. The final was Sindhu’s second straight Super Series final as the Olympic silver medalist had won the China Open Super Series event a few days back.
The Hong Kong Open title would have been another piece of silverware in Sindhu’s cabinet as she has been on title winning spree post her dream run at the Rio Games.
The Indian shuttler has had a prolific year so far and she will be itching to continue her good work. In semi-final PV Sindhu took on local girl Cheung Ngan Yi and defeated her 21-14, 21-16. Earlier in the quarter-final Cheung Ngan Yi had outplayed India’s Saina Nehwal to das all the hopes of an all India semi-final.
