Day 10 of Winter Session of Parliament is set to begin with BJP Parliamentary party will meet at 9.30 am, followed by opposition parties meet at 9.45 am. On Monday, the parliament opened in a stalemate as the protests on the streets by the opposition rocked the House proceedings with frequent disruptions.
Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha ran into chaos over demands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the House by the opposition parties to debate the government’s move scrapping Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley introduced a bill in Lok Sabha to amend the Income Tax law on Monday. The Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 2016 proposes to amend Section 115 BBE of the Income Tax Act to provide for a punitive tax, surcharge and penalty on unexplained credit, investment, cash and other assets.

While several Left and Opposition leaders took to streets to observe ‘Pratibad Divas’ and the ‘Jan Aakrosh Diwas’, the Opposition parties rallied inside the Houses too, causing adjournments for the day before 3pm.
