Timeline of terror attacks and ceasefire violations in J&K after Indian army's surgical strikes across LoC

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district and killed three terrorists on Tuesday. One BSF jawan was injured in the encounter, which took place at Fatwal village in Chamliyal area.

3-4 terrorists stormed into an Army base in Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu at around 5:30 am even as the operation was underway.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after Indian Army carried out 'surgical strikes' across LoC on the intervening night of September 28 and September 29. A series of attacks from Pakistani side have been reported after the surgical strikes and Tuesday's twin attacks are the latest in the series.

Here is a timeline of all the major attacks following the surgical strikes:

November 29: Terrorists stormed the premises of 166 army unit at Nagrota-based 16 Corps headquarters on the outskirts of Jammu. They have reportedly killed two soldiers. The BSF foiled an infiltration bid and killed three terrorists along the IB in Samba. A BSF jawan was injured in the encounter.

November 25: An encounter broke out in Naidkhai area in which an army jawan and three terrorists were killed. In another incident in Baramulla, a local terrorist was apprehended by the Indian Army and J&K police following a gun battle in Tujjer village of Sopore.

November 22: J&K Police’s Special Operations Group and Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles, in a joint operation, killed two militants in Bandipore district.

November 16: An encounter broke out in north Kashmir's sopore in which a cop with the J&K Police’s elite counter insurgency force was killed. The militants managed to escape after a brief gun battle.

November 9: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Machhal sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, leaving one soldier killed. In retaliation, India targeted many Pakistani posts using heavy weapons. In another incident, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

November 8: Shelling from Pakistani side in Naushera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu left an army jawan martyred and two others injured.

November 7: Security forces gunned down a Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Two jawans were also injured in the gun battle.

November 6: Indian troops foiled two infiltration bids along LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector.

November 1: Unprovoked mortar shelling from across the border left 8 civilians dead in Arnia and Rajouri. The BSF claimed that it destroyed 14 Pakistani posts opposite Arnia sector in retaliation.

October 30: Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in the forest area of Kupwara after information about presence of terrorists in the area.

October 10: Militants attacked a government building (Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute) in Sempora area of Pampore.

October 8: Terrorists attacked a police post in Shopian sector, killing a policeman and managed to escape.

October 7: Heavy shelling and gunfire at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region were reported from the Pakistani side.

October 6: Terrorists attacked an army camp in Langate in Kupwara. Three terrorists were gunned down.

October 5: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire four times and carried out heavy firing and shelling on Indian Army posts and civilian areas in Poonch, Rajouri and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

October 4: A police station in Yaripora, Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir was attacked by suspected terrorists. Pakistani troops opened fire in Kalsiyan, Kalal and Baba Khori area of Naushera sector. BSF and Army camps were attacked by militants in Baramulla town. One BSF soldier was killed and another was injured in the attack.

October 3: Pakistani troops carried out mortar shelling and firing on Indian Army posts with four ceasefire violations. Civilian areas and Army posts were targeted in several sectors of Poonch.

October 2: Pakistai troops launched firing and shelling along the LoC in Pallanwala sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

October 1: Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pallanwalla sector of Akhnoor.

September 29: Pakistani troops opened fire at Chapriyal and Samwan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector.

September 28: Unprovoked firing was carried out by Indian posts at Sawjian.
