The Supreme Court on Friday approved a pollution code for Delhi-NCR and asked the Centre to notify it.
The Supreme Court accepted the submissions made by the all parties including Centre and asked the Centre to notify the levels of 4 categories of pollution.
Pollution code is classified into 4 categories which are Moderate to poor, Very poor, severe, Very Severe or Emergency.
The high pollution in Delhi-NCR region is due to factors like high vehicle population, unchecked construction, road dust and garbage burning, among others. It got worst by the stubble burning in the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana and Diwali crackers.
