Inching towards final solution, GST not a done deal yet, says Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that GST is not a done deal yet, however, he asserted that it is moving towards the final solution. He said this while briefing the media on GST council meet.

Here is what all the Finance Minister said:

#As if we set that precedent in the beginning then our whole effort to reach consensus through deliberated democracy will suffer

#States and Centre since we are not going on division should not be divided on party lines

#States also wanted a discussion on demonetisation which was held separately; states suggested to allow some flexibility

#Discussions were held on the CGST and IGST draft in the GST Council meet

#Agenda for the meeting on Dec 11-12 is completion of approval of CGST & IGST draft and discuss cross empowerment law; consensus possible
