Mumbai:
A 24-year-old woman physiotherapistwas found murdered at her house in suburban Vile Parle earlythis morning, with the autopsy report indicating she wassexually assaulted before the killing, police said. The woman was found dead around 3 AM with burn injurieson her face and a pair of jeans wrapped around her neck, theysaid.
"Based on the autopsy report, we are filing a case ofrape and murder," said a senior police official late thisevening. The woman lived with her parents at a one-plus tenementin a chawl. She occupied the top room which served as herstudy room.
A neighbour of theirs said they saw smoke coming out ofher room and alerted her parents. As her parents and otherswent upstairs and doused the fire in the room, they found herlying dead on the floor, the police official said.
Another neighbour said she was last seen with two of herfemale friends who were at her place till 11 pm.
