New Delhi:
The global search engine Google on Wednesday marked the anniversary of Olaus Roemer’s determining the speed of light who first successfully measured the speed of light in the year 1676.
During our childhoon we all were taught about how light travels, and who travels faster light or sound?. Well as the years have passed some may remember ar some may not, so today Google once again has refreshed the memory by telling us about the person who was behind the discovery.
Popular astronomer Galileo Galilei was the first to attempt to determine the speed of light, but failed. Years later, Ole Romer was able to make the startling proposition on the basis of his observations of the eclipses of Jupiter’s moons.
The doodle shows Roemer pacing up and down to his telescope observing Earth, Jupiter and its moon Io.
To celebrate the discovery of the speed of light by Ole Romer, Google came up with the animated Google Doodle depecting the astronomer to the historic discovery.
