Ajit Kumar Pandey tapped home from close range, to assure India’s victory in the opening campaign. Varun Kumar produced stunning finish past the Canadian keeper in the 60th minute to make the score 3-0.

Mandeep singh gave India the lead in 35th minute as he hammered home the rebound from close range. In the early first half, India and canada displayed some great defensive play. Harmanpreet doubled India’s lead with a calm finish from a penalty stroke in 46th minute.

Coach Harendra Singh too admitted that his boys would like to continue their solid run, which saw the team win the Four Nations Tournament in Valencia last month, defeating world champions Germany in the final.
