Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth, who is busy shooting for Shankar's magnum opus "2.0" and will be turning 66 on December 12, has requested his fans not to celebrate his birthday, following Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's death.

According to the sources, it is believed that superstar Rajinikanth has taken this decision as a mark of respect to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who died on Monday night due to cardiac arrest at Apollo hospital in Chennai.

on Friday, Rajinikanth's manager Riaz Ahmed took to twitter to announce that Thalaivar has requested his fans not to celebrate his birthday and avoid keeping banners & posters.

Jayaram Jayalalithaa was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, she had been in the hospital since late September. 

A former actress, Ms Jayalalitha was the head of the regional AIADMK party and was elected chief minister of Tamil Nadu six times. 

She had established a personality cult over the years as many publicly funded projects have been named after her.
