New Delhi:

Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli's amazing year with the bat gets even better and during third day of Mumbai test against England he went past 1000-run mark in Tests in the year 2016.

He also became the 14th Indian to score 4000 runs in test cricket and sixth fastest Indian to achieve this milestone. Virat scored fifteenth test hundred in fourth test against England.

Another milestone reached by Virat Kohli in Mumbai test is that he has now equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record (in 1997) for most hundreds in a calendar year while captaining the side.

Virat Kohli's test career has its ups and downs, he made his Test debut in West Indies in July 2011, but due to poor performance in the series, was dropped from the test side.

However making a couple of half centuries in the final Test got him selected into the Test squad for the Australia tour which followed.

Kohli failed again in the first two Tests in Australia, but justified the team management's continuous support for him with a 75 in the third Test in Perth and a century which was his first in Test cricket in Adelaide.

Kohli went on to make centuries against New Zealand, England and Australia when the teams visited the sub-continent in the 2012-13 season and established himself as a batting mainstay for India.
