New Delhi:

Japanese automobile giant Suzuki has finally pulled off curtains from its much awaited new age model of its popular hatchback car Swift. Touted as new SWIFT, Maruti has launched the revamped version of the car in Japan. It is expected to go on sale from January 4, 2017. 

As far as its debut in India is concerned, the all new Swift will Indian markets in 2017. The company has announced that the new Swift model for the foreign markets will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show to be held in March 2017. 

First launched in 2004, Swift has since then emerged as one of the most successful Suzuki car in the history. Selling over 5.3 million units worldwide, Swift has also been a market leader in hatchback category in India. 

Let's look what the all new Suzuki Swift can offer to customers in terms of engine specifications, features, price and its brand news design:  

Engine specification  

The new Swift is manufactured on a rigid and light new generation platform, called HEARTECT. The same platform is also being used in Suzuki's Baleno. In Japan, the new Swift will be launched in two variants- Hybrid ML and Hybrid RS.

Hybrid ML is powered by 1.2-litre dualjet petrol engine. While Hybrid RS is equipped with a 1.0 litre Boosterjet, turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.  

Both Hybrid ML and RS feature Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki(SHVS) technology, which helps in boosting the fuel economy of the car. 

The all new Swift will come with a full-fledged 'Safety Package' on all the variants except the vase variant XG trim. The safety package includes a Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) collision-mitigating system, which is powered by a monocular camera. high beam assists and a set of laser sensors.

This new combination helps in automatically tagging high and low beam, depending on the vehicle's surroundings. The package also includes an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which helps in maintaining a certain distance from the vehicle in the front.

Design 

The all new Swift gets a new design in both interior and exterior of the car. While Suzuki has kept the classic DNA of the Swift intact in term of its design philosophy. 

With an evolutionary design philosophy, the new Swift comes with an all news front fascia. On the front, new Swift sports a chrome lined hexagonal grill, round fog lamp enclosures, and angular LED headlights. With all new 16-inch alloy wheels, the new Swift also gets a new sloping roofline. In the interior of the car, it features a premium quality interior with a completely new dashboard design. 

Price 

Customers in Japan will have to shell out around 1.34 million Yen (Rs 7.78 lakh) to 1.84 million Yen (Rs 10.69 lakh) the buy the new Shift.

India Launch 

As far as Swift's India version is concerned, it is expected to retain the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine which the company uses in the present version of the Swift available in India. Although it is expected to come up with a different state of tune to enhance performance and fuel-efficiency.

An automated manual transmission (AMT) version can also come up in the Indian market.
