A day after News Nation exposed the corruption in healthcare in its sting operation ‘Operation Jonk’, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday raised the issue in Parliament and assured that stern action will be taken against the culprits.

"It's a very sensitive issue. A high level probe will be initiated and strict action will be taken in this regard,” Dr Harsh Vardhan had told News Nation on Monday.

Dr Harsh Vardhan has requested News Nation to submit a CD and has said that appropriate action will be taken against people involved in the corruption.

Sources on Tuesday said that Medical Council of India will submit a compiled report on the issue to the Health Ministry by Tuesday evening.

Speaking to News Nation, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Vice-President KK Aggarwal also requested the government to take strict action against the erring doctors and medical practioners.

News Nation on Monday revealed the real face of some labs and diagnostic centres and their connection with doctors.

According to the report, some doctors earn 40-50 per cent commission on the tests being prescribed by them and sometimes even suggest those tests to the patients which are actually not required.
