And actress like Shabana Azmi is a true deserving person for such a high praise.

Apart from being just an actress she has been praised for her multi-talented persona in almost every field. Firstly, everyone praised her for marvellous acting and as the colours started fading she placed herself again in fame with varied social causes.

On September 18, the actress has turned 63. And we bring you five best movies of her which you must watch.

Ankur, 1974: Film Ankur kick started the collaboration between two legends Shaban Azmi and Shyam Benegal.

The ultimate collaboration then gave movies like Mandi, Nishant and Junoon. Ankur was both commercial and critical success, as Lalit M. Bijlani, who produced the film for just five lakhs rupees, went on to make one crore with its release.

Debutant Shabana also won National Award for Best Actress.

Arth, 1982: The film written by Mahesh Bhatt is a semi-autobiographical movie based on his extramarital relationship with actress Parveen Babi.

In a complete contrast, Shabana played the character of a deeply wounded and humiliated wife of a unfaithful wife.

Godmother, 1999: Hindi biographical drama film directed by Vinay Shukla, inspired by the life of Santokben Jadeja gave Shabana her fifth national award.

Known for her piercing intensity, the actress employs her true essence to convey the steely grit and persistence of her on-screen alter ego.

Fire, 1996: While Shabana was riding high on success, movies like Fire made her more controversial.

She played the character of housewife, who is lonely and finds her homosexuality amid more of criticism.

Makdee, 2002: While everyone started believing that Shabana’s acting career has just ended, she showed herself in a never seen before avatar with Vishal Bharadwaj’s Makdee.

She played the character of a fake witch who used to trap innocent villagers for her own benefit.
