Daawat-e-Ishq is exactly irreconcilable to what is deemed of promos but in a sturdy way.
Many movies take social cause as focus and lose path of entertainment, but Daawat-e-Ishq on the contrary is entertaining yet impactful as it deals with the much common issue – dowry.
This is not the first time a movie has been made on dowry, but the way director Habib Faisal has carried this consequential issue is worth watching.
They say don’t educate your daughter or you won’t find a good boy for her to marry, Parineeti as Gulrez "Gullu" Qadir plays the character of a highly talented girl and Anupam Kher is the hapless father, who deals with the downcast truth.
Director and writer Habib hooked it with an interesting knot to show how dowry frustrated Gullu eventually decides not to marry, instead loot a guy to fulfil her dream of doing footwear designing from USA.
Aditya Roy Kapoor as Tariq "Taru" Haidar, who has killer looks, presents himself as a true Aashik as well as victim of Gullu’s devilish plan.
Amid all, what movie delivers is Lucknow’s alluring restaurants and its picturesque monuments. But, unfortunately we didn’t find much about Hyderabad apart from a single shot of biryani that too with a negative note.
While disappointment was making its mark, songs were making us believe that the money has been spent on the right film. The songs fully gelled with the script and made it more impactful.
With few ups and downs, the film turns out to be a full-on entertainer and is a must watch for all those who are in favour or against dowry.
