Washington:

Australia cricket team captain Michael Clarke gave a telling off to his teammate Steve Smith during the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan after the batsman's friendly chat with their rival team's Azhar Ali.

Clarke was clearly unhappy with Smith's friendly chat with Ali. Australia had again lost the toss and Pakistan had comfortably moved to 1for 94 on a docile wicket in Abu Dhabi, already one up in the two Test series and cruising by the 33rd over.

So when Smith, who was fielding pitchside, had a friendly yarn to Azhar, Clarke gave him a rocket, Fox News reported.

Former Australian Test player and commentator Dean Jones explained that what happened there was Smith was just having a few little talks to Ali and having a bit of a yarn. He added all one would say is that is nice to have friends, but Clarke just yelled out that Ali's friends are upstairs not down there.

Jones said that so Clarke told Smith to zip it and the batsman just copped a rocket from the captain.
