New Delhi:

The upcoming Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand are touted to bring a change in the electoral dynamics of politics in both the states. News Nation in its opinion poll on Friday tried to get some accurate results. Let us take a look at them.

With the soaring popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is expected that Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) may bring majority in the Jharkhand Assembly polls while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would emerge as the single-largest party in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir

Nationalist Congress (NC), which has broken its alliance with Congress, is trying hard to prevent the rise of Mehbooba Mufti of People's Democratic Party (PDP). On the other hand BJP with its 'Mission 44' is working to ensure that lotus blooms in the terror-hit state, which has struggled to join the national mainstream.

The current outgoing assembly has total 87 seats: NC 28, PDP 21, Congress 17, BJP 11, Others 10.

NN’s opinion poll suggests that PDP is expected to emerge as the single largest party in the state with 31-36 seats.

BJP: 23-28 seats; Congress: 8-12 seats; NC:7-11 seats; others:8-12 seats.

In case of coalition politics, there is no possibility of Congress supporting BJP and the NC supporting the PDP, their obvious choices could be the PDP and the BJP respectively.

Regarding the most suitable candidate- Congress' campaign chief in Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad has emerged as the favourite among locals. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed seems to be hold second place here.

In terms of percentage, a 33 percent votes have been projected in favour of BJP while 22 percent votes have been projected in favour of PDP.

Article 370 and Self-Rule are the issues that remain at the Centre of the political debate in the state.

Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, the opinion poll predicted 42-46 seats for BJP, 14-18 seats for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, 5-9 seats for Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, 6-10 seats for Congress and 4-8 seats for others.

JVM Chief Babulal Marandi followed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Yashwant Sinha emerged as frontrunners for CM post.

In terms of percentage, the poll projected BJP to get 41 percent votes, followed by JMM with 17 percent, Congress with 14 percent and JVM with 15 percent.

Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir will vote on November 25, December 2, December 9, December 14 and December 20. Counting will take place on December 23.
