New Delhi:

Artist-photographer Samar Singh Jodha’s installation ‘Outpost,’ which highlights the habitats of the miners in the North East is now being shown here.

Jodha artwork is a pictoral trope of discarded containers fashioned into habitat by miners in the NorthEast and has previously shown at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2014.

“Miners are not trained architects but you should see how they live in small shacks they fashion for themselves,” says Jodha.

The artist says he photographed the houses and took them to metal workers in Mumbai where he worked to transfer the images onto oxidised discoloured metal strips that go into his installation.

The show that runs for two months here is being showcased at the Apeejay Arts, a newly opened contemporary art gallery promoted by Priti Paul.

Meanwhile, Jodha is also featuring as a judge on National Geographic channel’s “Covershot” photography-based television reality show of 10 episodes that goes on air from today.

Participants vie for a chance to get the images they have clicked feature on the cover of the National Geographic Traveller India magazine.

The show which features Mumbai has Jodha along with photographer Raghu Rai and filmmaker Abhinay Deo.

“It is a different experience for me. My job was to create certain challenges for the participants, for example if they have to do a landscape shoot in Mumbai I give them certain tips and tricks,” says Jodha.
