New Delhi:

Congress moved the Election Commission seeking action against BJP claiming that since it has not come out with its election manifesto for Delhi assembly polls, its advertisements or electoral promises amounted to violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The party said that as BJP has decided against coming out with an election manifesto, it is “not entitled to issue any advertisement or make any promise being party in power at the Centre contrary to the model code of conduct”.

In its complaint to EC, Congress claimed there is “no provision” for a Vision Document nor it has been provided under the model code.

It sought “action against BJP” for publishing advertisements and sought the poll panel’s intervention to ensure that BJP does not come out with more advertisements.

The Congress referred to the provisions of the Model Code and Supreme court directions regarding poll code and political advertisements to support its complaint.
