New Delhi:

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, well may be not especially if it shines!

Many of us don’t know that the fruit shines because of a wax coating on apple.

The apple traders coat their apples to protect it from decay. However, they have to follow a few guidelines like applying bees wax or wax obtained from vegetable oils.

But, negligent sellers often coat their apples from wax obtained from petroleum products which is harmful for your health.

This spray is harmful to the digestive system.

The Government of India has issued a guideline, “fresh fruits may be coated with bees wax (white and yellow) or carnauba wax or shellac wax at level not exceeding Good Manufacturing Practices under proper label declaration.”
